The first of three "Live on the Drive" summer concerts promises to be an absolute delight as Jevetta and Fred Steele bring their musical magic back to the neighborhood by popular demand. The free concert is on Thursday, June 10 from 6-8 p.m. on Victory Memorial Drive at 34th Ave. N, one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.
Jevetta and Fred Steele have been singing together since they were young children growing up in Gary, Indiana.
Jevetta is an Academy Award nominee for her performance on I'm Calling You from the movie Bagdad Café. She's recorded and toured with Prince, George Clinton, 10,000 Maniacs and Mavis Staples. She's also appeared in many stage productions including The Gospel at Colonus, Smokey Joe's Café and Crowns. Her most recent CD, My Heart, is a collection of original and classic jazz tunes.
Fred is a renowned composer, arranger, producer, actor and singer. He's in constant demand for corporate shows throughout the U.S., his voice can be heard on countless voiceovers, and his inspirational gospel CDs for Compass and Lifescapes are still top-selling. He also toured throughout the U.S. as a singer/actor in the musical production Mahalia.
Live on the Drive is presented by founding partner, North Memorial, with the Cleveland Neighborhood Association, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, North End Hardware, Northwest Minneapolis Business Association and NorthNews.
