A closing note

A closing note

To all students, parents, friends, colleagues, vendors, neighbors and supporters of Camden Music School. As many of you know, we celebrated our 9th anniversary last month - and we had so much to celebrate! Just think, for example, of the hundreds of students of all ages who’ve walked through our doors and found the inspiration and joy that music brings to the mind and soul, right here at Camden Music School (CMS).

With gratitude for all we’ve accomplished I must report, however, that revenues have not been sufficient enough for me to sustain the school beyond this June. This is sad news, I know. But it is time to close the school, and it’s time for me to do something different.

I also want to report that in typical CMS style, we will “go out on a high note!”

We’ll provide a fantastic spring session to current students and anyone else who’d like to join us. The halls of CMS will be filled with music, good conversations and laughter, as always, and you are welcome to be a part of this.

We’ll hold a very special Goin’ Out on a High Note sing-along celebration on Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. at the Capri Theater – with the venerable Dan Chouinard as host, along with an amazing cast of song leaders and you on vocals. We’ll be singing hits from the silver screen and the TV screen and it’s going to be an absolutely delightful evening.

On June 14, we’ll hold our 10th annual spring recitals. Come see our students shine.

Many thanks are in order, too. Thanks to everyone who’s taken lessons or classes here. Thank you to all of our extraordinary teachers, Luther Memorial, Grace Center, Super Power Committee members, vendors, scholarship contributors, Our Neighborhood Works, and everyone else who’s been a part of Camden Music School in some way along the way. There are far too many names to mention here, but you know who you are and you know that I appreciate you. And thank you, of course, to the man behind the scenes, my husband, Jeff Moe, who stood by me every step of the way.

To put this in musical terms, we’ve come to the double bars at the end of a magnificent piece of music. But rest assured, the music will live on in this most amazing part of the city. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
