Pack a picnic, bring your family and invite your friends to three fabulous "Live on the Drive" summer music concerts on June 11, July 9 and August 13. The concerts are free and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Victory Memorial Drive at 34th Ave. N., one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.

June 11: We kick off the series with one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in acoustic music, Peter Ostroushko. Peter has recorded and played across North America and Europe with stellar musicians like Bob Dylan, Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris, to name a few. He plays a wide variety of musical styles from folk to bluegrass, jazz, rock and Ukrainian music.

July 9: Jevetta and Fred Steele will grace our stage for the second concert. These multi-talented musicians have performed jazz, gospel, R&B, and the classics around the world including New York's Carnegie Hall, London, Brazil, Paris and all across the U.S. They've contributed music to film soundtracks and commercials and have recorded with Prince, Donald Fagen and Mahalia Jackson, among many others, both as solo artists and with their other brothers and sisters, The Steeles.

August 13: A nine-piece salsa orchestra, Charanga Tropical, wraps up the series with a spicy mix of classic and modern Latin music.  Performing with a "charanga" instrumentation that dates back to the roots of Cuban music, this group is one of the few ensembles of its kind in the U.S. Their music is rich in harmony and melody, fantastic for listening, and superb for dancing.

Live on the Drive is presented by founding partner, North Memorial, with the Cleveland Neighborhood Association, the Minneapolis Park and Rec-reation Board, the Northwest Minneapolis Business Association and with funds provided by the COMPAS Community Art Program through a grant from the McKnight Foundation.

"North Memorial is honored to be the founding partner of this concert series. We hope our neighbors on the Northside, as well as people from across the city, will come together for all three evenings of fine music and celebration," said North Memorial Marketing Manager Sue Lundquist.

Concertgoers are encouraged to save gas and walk or roll to the events (parking is limited). Mark your calendars and plan to attend all three "Live on the Drive" concerts. For info call 612-588-1155 or visit  www.clevelandneighborhood.org.
