Colloquium returns
Attention art lovers! The 7th annual Camden Colloquium will be held on Saturday, February 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the community room of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church at 4560 Colfax Avenue N. A labor of love by Marilyn Magee and Terry Catherine Williams, the Colloquium is an opportunity for emerging local artists to showcase their talents in both the visual arts, and the written word. The show is open to the public beginning at 1 p.m. with readings of poetry and prose, followed by a viewing of the visual art. Light refreshments will be served. Come join in the celebration of creativity and inspiration. For info contact Terry Williams at 612-729-5759.

As much FUN as you can have with your Ears ... Two!

Get ready to enjoy a snappy evening of splendid music for a good cause. It’s the second annual FUNdraiser for Camden Music School scholarships, starring Prudence Johnson, Dan Chouinard and Gary Rue, Tuesday evening, February 6, at The Ritz Theater.

The “Fun…Ears Two!” event will begin with a welcoming reception at 6:30 p.m. featuring hors d’oeuvres by two Camden neighborhood restaurants (Rix and Papa’s Pizza and Pasta), beverages and a cash bar. Guests will then move into the theater for a magical evening of music performed by the incomparable Johnson, Chouinard and Rue. You’ll hear French and Italian love songs, original Rue tunes and more, along with their delightful humor sprinkled throughout.

CMS has a key goal of serving all students who want to take lessons at the school, regardless of their economic circumstances. This annual event was created to both raise significant scholarship donations, but also to build a “can’t miss” Camden tradition that will support this goal for years to come.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for students 18 and under. Purchase tickets online at www.camdenmusicschool.com or by phone, 1-800-838-3006. Those unable to attend the event can make a donation to the CMS scholarship fund online at the CMS website, or by mail to CMS Scholarship Fund, 3751 Sheridan Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN, 55412. Checks should be written payable to ONW-Camden Music. All tickets and donations are fully tax-deductible.

The Ritz is located at 345 13th Avenue in Northeast Minneapolis. Originally designed and built as a movie theater in the 1920s, the theater has recently been renovated as a multi-purpose performance space.

The Camden Music School Scholarship Fund is a sponsored project of Our Neighborhood Works.  Since 1997 ONW has been working on and sponsoring projects that promote a strong North Minneapolis, including Smoke Free Homes, Holiday on 44th, the Workhouse Theatre and Camden Music School, among others.
