Please come and welcome our talented neighbors, Jevetta and Fred Steele, to our "Live on the Drive" stage Thursday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Victory Memorial Parkway at 34th Ave. N. - one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.

Jevetta Steele has enjoyed performing on many stages from London to Brazil, to Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theater, singing jazz, gospel, R&B, the classics and opera. She's recorded and toured with legends: Prince, Mavis Staples, George Clinton, Natalie Merchant, Kirk Whalum and The Sounds Of Blackness, to name just  a few. She's performed onstage locally at the Penumbra, Mixed Blood Theater, the Ordway and the Guthrie.

Fred Steele is a noted composer, arranger and producer. His inspirational gospel CDs for Compass and Lifescapes are a top selling series in the U.S. He toured across the country with the musical production, Mahalia, and is in constant demand for corporate shows, voiceovers and vocals on commercials.

Together with their other siblings (Billy, JD and Jearlyn) Jevetta and Fred have contributed to film soundtracks, traveled around the world in the musical The Gospel at Colonus, and continue to perform in world-class productions around the globe.  The Steele's can be seen in concert every Christmas at the Ordway, too, among many other stellar local performances.

Pack a picnic, invite your friends and bring your neighbors! Save gas by walking or rolling to the concert.

This is the second of three Live on the Drive concerts this summer. Performing in the series on August 13: Charanga Tropical. "Live on the Drive" is presented by founding partner, North Memorial, with the Cleveland Neighborhood Association, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Northwest Minneapolis Business Association, North News, and with funds provided by the COMPAS Community Art Program through a grant from the McKnight Foundation.
