Workhouse Theatre Company announces eighth season

Once again, the Ivey Award winning Workhouse Theatre Company will be producing three main stage theatrical productions, all in the Camden Community. Performances will be at The Warren Artist Habitat, 4400 Osseo Road.

The first production, opening October 9, is Sara Ruhl's The Clean House.

"The problem seems simple: The cleaning lady won't clean. And Lane, a brilliant, successful doctor living in a large home solves it the only way she knows how-by giving her anti-depressants. Little does she know that Matilde, the young Brazilian woman who has left her country because her parents died from laughter, won't clean because she is searching for the perfect joke. The Clean House, an award winning play by MacArthur Genius winner Sarah Ruhl, is a hilarious and touching comedy about love, loyalty, loss and of course, cleanliness." The Clean House won the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2004.

The second production, opening February 5, 2010, is Jeff Daniel's Apartment 3A.

"A public television employee named Annie, who has lost her faith - in God, men, and even (gasp!) PBS. Reeling from the loss of what she thought was the love of her life, Annie Wilson searches for a reason to hope again with a mysterious next-door neighbor who teaches her what it truly means to be in love forever"

The final production of the season, opening May 7, 2010, is Margaret Edson's  Wit.

"A university professor of English is dying of ovarian cancer. As she copes with her life-threatening cancer, she assesses her own life through the intricacies of the English language, especially the use of wit and the metaphysical poetry of John Donne." It won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
