Camden Pet Hospital, 1405 44th, has received accreditation following a comprehensive evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management. Only 15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices in the U.S. have achieved AAHA accreditation. In order to maintain accredited status, Camden Pet Hospital must continue to be evaluated regularly by the association’s consultants. “Camden Pet Hospital belongs to a select group of practices that are committed to meeting the standard of veterinary excellence,” says AAHA President Gregg Takashima. “AAHA hospitals pass a stringent evaluation of over 900 standards covering patient care, client service and medical protocols. By attaining accreditation, Camden Pet Hospital is demonstrating its dedication to offering the best care to its patients and clients.” But the news gets better! Don’t know what to get your family or friends for the holidays? Camden Pet is now offering gift certificates! It’s a great gift idea for the holiday season. And in December if you bring in a non-perishable food item or toy (for people or furry friends) to be donated to the local community, your pet will receive a free toe nail trim. Hours: Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m.-noon. www.camdenpet.com.

Have you noticed the work being done to the building at the corner of 42nd and Thomas? New property owners, Ross Lumley and Fred Rappaport, have taken on the renovation of the buildings’ façade. They have removed that old mansard roof and are repairing the beautiful brick work found under the old façade. The store fronts will all get a face lift with new windows, new exterior lighting, and new awnings. The façade improvements will be done with private funds and façade improvement grants through Victory Neighborhood Business Improvement grants. In addition the building is getting a new roof – no more leaks in Papa’s Restaurant and Deli–yeah! Look for and support new tenants in the coming months. Interested in leasing retail space? Call Fred at 612 384 7635.

Mobile Optics Eyeware provides prescription eyeware direct from the wholesaler – so save you money! Mobile Optics is owned by Camden residents Mark Osbornes, ABOC Certified Optician and Patircia Osborn, Opthamlic Technician. Their company is a professional eyeware service where a highly experienced certified optician will consult with you about your prescription eyeware and/or vision needs at their optical sales office (3989 Central Ave. NE); but since they are a mobile company, they will also meet with customers at their workplace or home. They manufacture and custom build your eyeware, offer personalized service, high quality frames, assure a comfortable fit and guarantee accuracy. Only Mobile Optics Eyeware allows you to buy direct from an optical lab – eliminating the costly middleman – which will save you 30 to 50 percent on every pair you choose!
