To all of the great business owners in the Camden area: Got a leaky flat roof or one that's just plain worn out? Protect your property and go to the professionals - Commercial Roofing and Sheetmetal. The owners have a combined experience of 75 years in commercial roofing - and they know their business. They can provide you with new construction, re-roofing, service and maintenance, and they also design and fabricate architectural sheet metal. Last year they completed the re-roofing at Olson Middle School in Camden for the Minneapolis School District. They have also completed projects for Honeywell Inc., Wells Fargo, St. Jude Medical and Medtronics. Check out www.commercialrfg.com, and contact Mark at 651-483-5298 or mark@commercialrfg.com.

The new "scene" at 42nd Avenue Station has developed into a dependable and sought-after music hot-spot in Camden over the past few months. Dan Hylton has been playing there recently, and the establishment has entertainment every few nights. They've been bringing in some touring acts - Lonnie Knight also played recently. The Station has a nice stage and sound system. Open into the evening hours, and typically no cover charge. Check it out at http://www.42ndavenuestation.com/.

During the 12th Annual National Musikgarten Teacher Festival in Green Lake, Wisconsin, Camden Music School (CMS) and its Musikgarten teachers, Annie Frohlich and Nancy Van Kampen, were awarded the 2010 Musikgarten Exemplary Program Award. This award recognizes CMS as a school that offers a full compliment of Musikgarten classes for children ages 0-8. CMS is one of only 82 programs in North America to receive this prestigious award for 2010. For info about CMS go to www.camden musicschool.com. Musikgarten is widely recognized as essential in helping young children develop valuable social, emotional, musical and physical skills. Visit www.musikgarten.org. CMS has also just hired drum instructor David DeGennaro as an administrative assistant to director Janet Zahn. David will be working in various administrative capacities including communications, marketing, managing social media and the implementation of a new software program. In addition to his musical experience, David has worked for three nonprofits over the past 12 years in communications and marketing capacities.

Connie Beckers welcomed the public to the Goddess of Glass and Friends at 2205 Lowry Ave. on June 5, showcasing artwork from 18 different artists, including Connie herself, at this colorful and stunning gift shop. Hours are Thurs. to Sat. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to stop on a regular basis as the store inventory will change every two months, featuring new artists. Feature artist Monica Kenton (pictured) had a reception at the store on June 24.
