4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 T baking powder
2 oz butter (cut butter into the first dry ingredients)
Add liquids and soda to the mixture
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 T baking soda
Add the following last:
1 to 3 T caraway seed (depends on love of the caraway)
1 cup raisins (can use golden raisins as well for a sweeter flavor)
Put mixture onto a slightly floured cookie sheet. Pat into a wheel shape, approximately 1 inch thick. Bake at 325 for approximately 12-15 minutes. Cool and cut into wedges. Serve with coffee in the morning or with a light soup in the evening. Serves 6-8.
