Grant Cermac
First and foremost I intend to communicate with honesty, humility, sincerity, and in a timely fashion. I am technologically savvy and will use both the Internet and conventional communication channels (phone, mail, etc.). While not everyone has a home computer to use email or social networking tools, our community libraries have very accessible computers to allow for almost everyone to interface with public servants this way. The most important role of a city council member is being available and responsive to resident problems. When something comes up and it seems there is no place to turn to deal with the city bureaucracy, I will provide a voice and an advocacy for the people of our ward.
My campaign is about providing a voice to the residents of the 4th Ward. Many people that I have spoken to on the campaign trail, whether through face to face conversations out door knocking or at a community forum, have complained about their current representation. From the lack of a timely response to outright hostility toward resident problems I aim to bring a service oriented attitude towards my constituents. If the community were interested I would hold "office hours" on a monthly or bi-monthly basis where anyone could drop in to discuss relevant issues. If the topic were not of a sensitive nature I would like to video tape and post the results online for any to review.
Ultimately the choice this November comes down to a simple question - has the city become a better place and are you better off than you were 10-20 years ago? If you answer no, then it is time to overthrow the status quo! Vote Grant Cermak in the November instant runoff election. More information on Grant can be found at www.grantcermak.com.
