Get ready for the upcoming election on November 4
10/01/2008
The Cleveland Neighborhood Association and the Camden Alliance of Neighborhoods (CAN!) are hosting a Candidates and Issues Forum on October 16 at 7 p.m. in the Lucy Craft Laney School cafeteria. The forum includes candidates for the Minneapolis School Board and State Representative for District 58A, and representatives for the Strong Schools Strong City Initiative.
The Candidates and Issues Forum goals are to educate Camden residents about the school board and legislative candidates' views on the issues and to educate voters on the referendum initiative on the ballot this November. The Candidates and Issues Forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters and everyone in the Camden Community is invited to attend.
Candidates include Joe Mullery and Grant Cermak for Legislative District 58A who will be asked, "How will you support neighborhoods struggling with housing issues and maintaining their housing values?"
School board candidates will be asked, "Do you support the school referendum? If it does not pass what are your strategies for dealing with the budget shortfall?" The six school board candidates invited are candidates Doug Mann, Jill Davis, Carla Bates, Lydia Lee, Sharon Henry-Blythe and Kari Reed.
Lucy Craft Laney School is at 3333 Penn. Enter from the parking lot on 34th, adjacent to the cafeteria. You have a chance to ask all the local candidates anything you want - take advantage of this opportunity!
