Idling is bad for air and pocketbooks

A recent letter writer Camden News October issue] criticized the City's idling ordinance. I would like to outline a few facts about idling. Idling uses more gas every 10 seconds than restarting your car. Excessive idling can damage your engine components, including cylinders, spark plugs and exhaust systems. Exhaust is hazardous to human health, especially children. This ordinance will not be enforced by the police, the Environmental division of Regulatory Services is charged with enforcement. They will give warnings for a first offense. We all need to be concerned about our air quality.
