Letters to the Editor - Thanks for a job well done - Thanks for a job well done

I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the Minneapolis Police Department and the other partners in Emergency Preparedness for their exemplary work in dealing with the dangerous situation that developed at 38th and Aldrich on Friday, March 8.  

As most of you already know, police engaged in a standoff with an armed man for more than nine hours before successfully taking him into custody that night.

From my vantage point in the command vehicle, I was impressed by how prepared the police department was for this type of incident and how precisely they executed their plan.  

Due to their professionalism, the dangerous situation was contained, children arriving home from school were reunited with their families safely, and we were able to achieve a positive and safe result. I am truly thankful for the hard working men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.  

Kudos for a job well done!
